PrestaShop is another of the frequently used content management systems. PrestaShop installation variants are available in a total of three types of installation. The fastest and easiest option is Automatic package upload. For a list of all packages and other applications with a more detailed description of the package upload methodology, see the Application Upload page. Choose the installation method, preferably Automatic package upload with automatic file upload to your website. However, Prestashop is still being created and it is possible that the whole process of creating Prestashop will be completely different in 2022 or 2025.
Depending on your choice of installation type, the manual adapts to this completely automatically. You enter the credentials and start uploading the package. Then it’s time to create a database. Log in to the administration system and fill in the form to create a new database in the MySQL database section and set the utf8_general_ci comparison, name the database, fill in the password and enter Create.
PrestaShop installation and other settings
For the website on which Prestashop will be installed, you will request activation of the PHP library Mcrypt, OpenSSL, PDO MySQL and ZIP. If you also intend to use the module for PayPal payments, activate the PHP library CURL. The PrestaShop installation begins by entering the name of the website in the browser where the installation was uploaded. On the first page, select the language of the Czech installation program, ie Czech, and press the Next button. Confirm the license terms by checking and click Next to continue. Then the PrestaShop software installer will check if everything is OK for the flawless operation of the web hosting system and you can enter Next. If this is not the case and an error occurs, you will be automatically redirected to the next installation step.
When setting up a store and an administrator account, enter the store name and select the main activity in the category. You will install demo products and it will be better to leave Yes here to get acquainted with the store. Enter the location, fill in the name, surname, email address, password and enter the store administration and enter Next.
Database connection settings
Fill in the form configuring the connection to the MySQL database, where you enter localhost in the database server address, fill in the database name created in the administration system, database login name and database name again, enter the password and leave the table prefix to the default ps_ and leave the Delete existing tables box checked.
You can check the entered data with the button with the name: Test your connection to the database. The text: Database successfully connected. Then enter: Next. The installation process will take place and a confirmation of successful installation will appear. You will use an FTP client to connect to a web server with PrestaShop installed and delete the install folder. To enter the administration, use the admin directory with random numbers and letters after the text. The installation is complete.
